Reviews

While the original was inspired, I can say with utmost certainty that this sequel album is a huge step up from its predecessor. First off, there are no weak tracks to speak of, which is already a plus. The artists and their compositions sound even stronger than before. While the previous release was rather standard chiptune fare, Soundshock 2 gives off vibes and emotions that the original did not have... If you’ve ever had any doubts over if chiptune music can be a substantial listening experience, look no further than Soundshock 2.

It’s undeniable how high the ‘SOUNDSHOCK’ Series put the bar for almost everyone, bringing together legends of the chip music (like coda, Shnabubula, Joshua Morse, the always awesome Bomb Boy, cTrix, Kulor, Blitz Lunar, and many, many more), leaving a reference for anyone in and around the scene. They did what they had to do, what it was necessary to do – now it falls to someone else to once again raise the bar, and I can’t wait to see the result!
